Why Steam Friend Status?

Instantly see who is online. A dim avatar indicates they are offline, while a bright avatar with a green dot shows they are ready to chat.

See exactly what your friends are playing. The key updates with a blue border and the name of the game they are currently in.

Press the key to instantly open a Steam conversation with that friend, bringing you directly into the action without searching your friend list.

Keep track of multiple friends by adding as many keys as you need.
